Mos,
When you say lightly grease the pan, is there anyway that I can spray the pan with the off brand of Pam, or should I use shortening? This recipe sounds wonderful and easy. That's the name of the game, EASY!! LOL I'm in hopes of making this bread this coming weekend. My daughter is having two of her wisdom teeth cut out the end of the week, and my dad is having knee surgery. My plate is full this week, and working full time, and my two year old grandson is coming to visit this weekend. I'm thinking he would love to help his Nana make this bread. Have a wonderful day!! Thanks for the recipe. If you have any more quick recipes for the up coming holidays please post them.

I use the generic butter-flavored spray so you can too! oh what fun to have a wee one working with you in the kitchen I posted a quick apple bread recipe a few weeks back. I think you'd like that.

Mos,
I want to thank you so much for your recipes and your quick reply. My husband and I get up every morning at 3:30, he's out the door by 5:30, and I'm normally out the door around 6:15. So it's time for me to get out of here and go to bed. My grandson, husband, daughter, and anyone else that walks in the house will be thanking you for this recipe.
Take care and have a great night. I hope to be able to get on here more and more. I love to read all of the post on here.

Thanks for the great sounding recipe. My DH loves to mzke bread. However he does use a bread machine. The bad news is that our machine just quit working aafter many years of use. This is an easy fast recipe. He can make some of his favorite breads with it. Thanks again. Margaret K

LOL! I'm up around 3AM even though my clock is set for 5! so I understand the early hours have fun with the recipe after you make the 'original.' it's a good bread for adding flavorings to -- one of my favorites? the WHOLE package of generic taco blend cheese makes great toast and good with dinner!

I see that you say the carbonation is what does it but not to use clear soft drinks. So would a can of coke work? I have that here right now. Just wondering. And thanks for sharing the recipe.

beer is made from grains, so the flavor is that of, well, bread, because the alcohol evaporates out! LOL! soft drinks are made from water, sweeteners and other additives for flavor. never thought about colas or any colored drink in the bread. the cola would definitely darken the bread and would add sweetness as well. my guess is if you're willing to try it, let us know how it turns out. if it doesn't turn out well, you could always crumble it up and feed birds

I make this alot myself, it is a big hit. I add about 1/3 cup sugar to mine, and sometimes I'll add some dill to it. The cheddar is also very good in it (add a little garlic powder with it)......... And it really does make the best toast.

I have been making this bread for years. Everyone in my family likes it, except my daughter. She says she can taste the beer and she doesn't like the taste of beer. I guess that's a good thing, right?
