Ziploc bags in the microwave not really a good idea. They are not designed for that and will potentially transfer chemicals to the food.

Thanks for the informtion! I was not aware of that, I will use papertowels from now on.

I didn't know that about the ziploc bags!
My hubby and I have been "baking" our baked potatoes in ziploc bags in the microwave. I saw the tip on some show the other day(may have been Rachael Ray) that you can stick 4 toothpicks in the bottom of your potatoes and it will lift them up and they will cook thoroughly. We tried it and it did OK, but when the potatoes get soft they still tip over because the toothpicks slip further into the softened potato. Also, from trial and error, use plain toothpicks. We used some colored ones(duh on my part! )and we had colored spots in our potatoes. I knew it was just food coloring so it didn't hurt us. The best baked potato to me is still baked in the oven, but for a quick meal we just zap them.

Homemade McMuffins! I would never have thought of doing this & freezing them individually! That's why I love this site!!! You guys have the best ideas!!! This will be great on Sunday mornings for a quick breakfast before church. (We always seem to be running short of time! )

i've made these for years. the only difference is , i use canadian bacon in the can. (is usually near the sausage or ham in the meat section). and have never frozen them. i toast muffins in the toaster, butter them. meanwhile i fry the eggs, (we like sunny side up, is messy, but good!) and fry bacon. to assemble i put bacon on muffin, egg and slice of american cheese, top with muffin. wrap in foil and heat together in 350* oven for about 10 mins. just to melt the cheese.

Wrapping them in foil and putting them in the oven is a really good idea too, when not freezing them.

My oldest son loves these for breakfast. He thinks that it's the only thing in the world to eat...lol...but I will be honest, I never thought to freeze some ahead of time. I'll be doing that real soon..........save me some time.

I did my own variation on this recipe.
I bought a bag of English Muffins, slathered one half w/brown mustard & the other half w/bbq sauce. On each muffin -- not each half, but for one whole muffin middle -- I put one fried egg (yolk broken), a slice of cheese, a soy sausage patty. Then I wrapped each sandwich in tin foil and stuck them in the freezer for later consumption. When I know I will want on the next morning I take it out of the freezer and put into the fridge. THen I open the foil and put in the toaster oven still sitting on the foil while I shower and it's ready to eat -- even has a handy warmer if I need to eat on the run (wrapped up in the tin foil I will wrap a dishrag around that to keep warm). My son likes these so much he's eaten up most of my stash!
