Irish dance

At the local elementary school there is one fourth grade teacher who lived for several years in Ireland. Since moving back to the US and teaching she has always incorporated Irish dancing into the school. My thirteen year old had this teacher and really had a fun time with learning not only the dancing but some of the Celtic history to go along with it.
So when my ten year old was finding out who he would have for a teacher this year he was so excited that he got the same teacher and would be able to learn the dancing as well.
Today was the performance day for this year's fourth graders. Let me explain a little, not every fourth grader gets to do this, only the ones is this teachers class will learn the dancing and perform for the rest of the school. So it is the (forgive the pun) "luck of the Irish" who get to perform.
There was also a drum group who came in to play music for the children while they sang and danced. I enjoyed it so much (have to go back in about an hour for the next show) that I came home and threw my Enya CD in and have been listening to that all morning/afternoon. I love Enya, so calming and moving when you take time to really hear the words that are said.

Celtic music is so calming and beautiful. How lucky your boys are to be exposed to this.

One of my daughters is studying Irish. I let them choose any language they want to learn. She loves Celtic music and really wanted to learn their native language. I was a student at the University of St Andrews one year and took Scottish Highland dancing. It was a lot of fun!
