Someone explain please?

Took my little guy for his checkup after his tonsil/adenoid/nasal polyp removal surgery and got a clean bill of health for the most part. We will schedule the CT scan just to make sure that all of the polyps are removed, no roots left and hopefully no others hiding inside somewhere.

The doctor wants us to go to an allergy specialist. My question is why? I know it helps to have an idea of what is causing the allergy then you can avoid whatever it is. However, the doctor told me repeadily, allergies change over time and what he is allergic to today he may not be later on. So what is the point in doing the allergy test? I personally do not deal with allergies, some seasonal sinus problems but not allergies so I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this. Why subject him to more testing when so far everything has come back as negative for an allergy?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I used to work for a Doctor, and my theory is they are all money hungry head cases. A lot of times, Dr get a referral fee when they refer out. This might not be the case, but I have seen a lot of dirty things working for Dr's. They are not all like this, but a lot of them are. I would get a second opion b/f taking him.

my youngest daughter never had allergies when she was little -she has developed some now -she is 12. The doctor gave us some samples to try and said she needed an allergy test- I have just bought over the counter allergy med. it seems to keep it in check -she takes one a day -we never scheduled the test -one very expensive ( my insurance will not cover ) , also somewhat painful ( they drag a sheet of needles on their back ) and then I figured who cares what she is allergic to because I probably can not control it ( my sisters girls are allergic to 34 items including dust, mold ,pet dander ) non of which you can control. I wondered about the doctor getting something out of this. Hate to think that way but...they like their money too. I keep joking that his wife needs a new diamond for Christmas.
I am going to try the allergy medicine over the counter for awhile to see if it works, funny thing is he doesn't seem to have allergy symptoms-no runny nose, no water eyes, no sniffles or coughing.
