discipline

What a week we have had with Alex again. He is still a "different" boy, grown up I guess but I wont complain it has been nice. I haven't had to sit and micro-manage him to get anything accomplished. This week he has really been busy with earning scout merit badges (okay finishing them up) so he can earn his next rank. He was told (yes sometimes I can be persnickity ) if he wants to fly with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) he has to get his bottom in gear and get the merit badge work done in scouts to earn rank so he will have more free time.

This week we have finished a swimming (took two days), Emergency Preparedness, Citizenship in the Community (eight hours of volunteer work at the Humane Society) if he can catch a fish tonight then he will have his fishing one done also.

I have been trying to push him to be a little more responsible but guess that I shouldn't have bothered. Last night he had a CAP meeting and was to wear his BDU's (camo) clothes. It looked like he had everything. He did get a call on Wednesday evening that he was suppose to teach a lesson on Thursday, which sent us all into a little panic trying to research information and get ready-turned out he has another week before he has to do that so we can all breath a little easier. Anyhow, he was rushed running from one activity then home to try to grab a bite before heading out to the meeting for two hours. Guess he forgot to grab his hat to wear for the meeting. So the DH calls, I try searching in the deep dark relms of a 13 year old's trashed out bedroom to find a camoflouge hat (so not fun!!!) found it then twenty minutes later the DH returned it to Alex. When he got there the DH had to call me, laughing as he was on his way home in the car. Alex will never forget his hat again! He spent the twenty minutes outside doing drills with his left hand on his head as his hat. . I am so sold on the CAP for discipline!!!! Had to razz Alex this morning. He was playing on the computer so I walked over grabbed his left hand and put in on his head and said "Doesn't that feel better" he turned several shades of red, laughed and said I will never do that again.
