Barefoot and Pregnant

Posted 10-12-2009 at 06:37 PM by MommyMeghan
That is how I felt yesterday, except I wasn't barefoot, and I sure am not pregnant. I made Chicken Noodle Soup, homemade, I really did it. Better yet, it was good! I was amazed. Who'd of thunk it? I really think that I got this home cooking thing down. My oldest son loved it, my youngest not so much. My DH thought it was the best thing in the world, and I am sure my great grandma rolled over in her grave. I remember telling her once that if it came in a can I didn't need to cook it. Good thing she made me sit there and taught me anyways. So I figured it up and it cost me $2.15 for the picnic pack of chicken, $0.78 for the carrots, $0.25 for the celery, egg noodles $0.99, and the spices we will consider to be nothing. SO for $4.17 I made 10 cans worth of Campbell's Chunky Chicken noodle soup. Those cans were on sale for $2.39 each this weekend. I saved $19.73 cooking my own. WOW!

LOL- the barefoot & pregnant sure brought back memories. I found with my kids that if I make biscuits or cornbread and serve with soups/stews then they're much happier. My oldest son loves any kind of soup or stew, my youngest, not so much. He just likes to dunk biscuits. Congrats on your cooking bonanza, it's great to hear when folks can save money (& eat healthier!)
