Beyond Broke- Ramen Recipes
Posted 04-02-2009 at 04:11 PM by Liss
The last few weeks I've noticed hoards and hoards of folks on the news struggling to make ends meet. The one that topped the cake for me this morning was a man who robbed a local convenience store at 3 am in the morning, WITH his 9 year old daughter. He explained to the clerk, (while brandishing a gun) that his daughter needed to survive.
We're finding ourselves in some sad times folks. While it's no secret that I love dirt cheap recipes, I thought I would touch a bit on 1 item that is about .10 a package on average and can be whipped into a gourmet meal with just a bit of creativity.
Yup, you guessed it, Ramen Noodles! They're not just for college kids anymore.
Try a few of these delicious, inexpensive Ramen Noodle Dishes, including Taco Ramen Salad, Beef & Broccoli Ramen, Chicken Oriental Ramen, and Chicken Diablo Ramen.

I'll be adding a few more tried and true Ramen dishes later this week, so make sure you check back, Many of these can be made in a single pot over a campfire.
May your belly be full,
Liss

Yes ramen are very cheap. We eat them often here, so many different ways to fix it. Thanks for the posting Liss, I'll be checking out your recipe forum on ramen.

thank you so much!!! i live on ramen sometimes. it's cheap, easy to make, and fun to eat. ^_^ i sometimes splurge and get the actual japanese ramen, the kind that has only japanese writing. i feel guilty sometimes, but oh well. i think 75cents to a 1.25 is a cheap price to pay for some happiness during these really tough times.

Whenever I make pasta of any type, I add one package of ramen. The ramen makes the other pasta easier to "catch" on a spoon or fork. It also makes the pasta go further. I save the seasoning packets for other meals. I add to tomato sauce or cheese sauce to pour on pasta, meat loaf, soups/stews, etc. I just get flavors of ramen (like creamy chicken, oriental, chicken, beef, etc.) and use it as seasoning.
