Warm Holiday Beverages from the crock pot

Posted 12-11-2008 at 10:20 AM by DohDohBird
These recipes are all pretty thrifty, make your home smell wonderfully, and remind your taste buds that Christmas is on its way. I hope you will enjoy them as much as my family does.

Crockpot Wassail

Put all of this in your crock pot (4 qt size or larger, I recommend):

8 cups apple cider
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup honey
3 sticks cinnamon
2 cloves
1 thouroughly washed orange, cut into circles with the peel left on

Cover and cook on low at least 4 hours. Serve in mugs with an orange piece afloat on each cup and a cinnamon stick, too.

Crock Pot Peppermint Hot Cocoa

Combine the following in your crock pot, stirring well:

3 cups dry milk
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder

Add 1/2 cup chocolate syrup (like Hershey's) and 1 tsp peppermint extract.

Slowly whisk in 7 cups of water.

Cook on high 2 hours, or till hot. Serve with marshmallows and candy canes.

Great Ideas! I do the homemade hot cocoa mix every year for the family as presents. I don't use the dry milk to much $$$ instead I use plain powdered coffee creamer!
