No AC here now!

Posted 06-21-2009 at 09:17 PM by brchbell
When we put in our new house we got talked into putting in a Lennox above ground heat pump instead of a traditional Ac/ furnace system. the heating part worked fine but the Ac part never has worked. We went without all last summer because they claimed we had to small of duct work for our house so this last winter we replaced it. When we finally turned it on it only worked for 4 hours and shut down. they've been out every day this week including Saturday to replace or fix this and that and it still keeps shutting down. I'm going to try and see if they will pull the whole system out and just put in a AC unit instead. 3 of us have severe asthma and this week has taken a big toll on us. It's reaching the point that it is becoming life threating. Hope I can work out a deal with them tomorrow! We had a mild summer last year but this one is very hot with near 100% humidity and pollen is much worse this year than last further worsening the Asthma conditions. Our HMO said if we have to go onto oxygen this week or end up in the hospital they are going to sue Lennox and our contractor. Hope they agree to change things out quickly for us! Feel like I'm breathing mud today!

I am so sorry to hear about the problems with the AC, hope that something will get worked out soon last thing you need is for anyone of you to be in the hospital. The humidty has been crazy so early in the season-feels like August weather not June. Keep us updated.

I sure hope that get it fixed for you really soon. The humidity has been super bad here too (SW Missouri). At 10:00am this morning it was already 95 degrees. When ours went out, the sensor switch went out in it. It was running the heat and a/c at the same time. Because it didn't know what to do. So when they changed that, it started working. Mine was shutting off too, before they changed the switch. Might have them check that and see if that might be the problem.

How awful for you and your family, especially with health issues. Hope they get it fixed.

The contractor who installed this unit crimped the flow switch. He cost us over $3000 with this mess. Glad Lennox sent someone out finally who found the problem and got it replaced and fixed finally!
