Friday exhaustion

My Bishop had tons of very full plum trees and no time to deal with them so told us to come pick plums! We packed our truck with every container we could come up with and filled them to overflowing and didn't even make a dent. I canned up two batches last night before going to bed late. Got to sleep in to 7am! Unheard of in our house! Working like crazy now making plum butter, plum jam and plain canned plums. I'll call later tonight and see if there is any left or not and if so we'll go for a refill. They are on the small side but much better than the red plums I could buy in the store. Hoping some of these will last a week or so in the fridge just to eat on but don't know if they will or not. We decided not to buy fruit this year to put up, just work with what we could get free. He let me know the pear trees are very loaded also!

Wow, that's great. Very kind of him to let you have all you want. That is a real blessing. Enjoy you butter and jams, they sound really good.

He told me to be ready to come back next month for pears. I'll wrap part of those and put in the basement fridge and then dry the rest of them. Kids want to make some pear butter now that they have the hang of that.

Sounds as if you and the kids are really enjoying, and that they are learning a lot of great life lessons.. Enjoy..
